Patrick Currently Starring in Waiting for Godot
Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are currently starring in Samuel Beckett's tragicomedy Waiting for Godot, where two men, Vladimir and Estragon, wait endlessly for the mysterious Godot to arrive. Stewart to Play Voice of God in English Mystery Plays
Patrick is coming back to Yorkshire, in spirit if not body, when he appears alongside a community cast at Monk Bretton Priory in Barnsley in The English Mystery Plays. Produced and directed by John Kelly for Barnsley-based Secret Theatre Company, the show features video footage and the voice of Stewart who plays God. Speaking between performances of Waiting for Godot, Patrick tells The Yorkshire Post he is clearly delighted to be taking part in the Mystery Plays, although he's not entirely sure how and when he agreed to take part. "I have no idea, it was that long ago I can't remember. But I struggle to remember breakfast time," laughs the man who qualified for a bus pass some years ago. The Shape of the World To Be Released on DVD in August
The Shape of the World, an epic tale of mapmaking the globe, narrated by Patrick Stewart will be released on DVD on August 4, 2009. This six-part documentary, originally shown on PBS, traces the history of mapmaking from crude clay tablets to sophisticated electronic screens. Patrick Stars as Narrator in The Invention of Lying
Patrick will star as the Narrator in the upcoming Ricky Gervais film The Invention of Lying which comes to theaters on September 25, 2009. A large international cast stars in this film set in a world where the concept of lying doesn't exist and a loser changes his lot when he invents lying and uses it to get ahead. Trailer.
Patrick Guest Stars on Extras Retrospective Show on BBC
Patrick to guest star in a 3.5 hour retrospective program on BBC about Ricky Gervais' comedy series Extras. BBC plans to screen the clips as part of a major new series looking back at award-winning shows including this one. It will air later this year. More Details
Hamlet Airs Later in 2009 as BBC2 Teleplay
The Royal Shakespeare Company's 2008 production of Hamlet was be filmed on location this summer as a three-hour teleplay to air later this year on BBC2. Hamlet will air in U.S. in 2010, and it will also be released on DVD. More Details.
Playing Shakespeare Now Out on DVD
Playing Shakespeare, an intimate acting workshop with Britain's top stars is now available on DVD. Patrick to Guest Voice in New Castlevania Video Game
Konami has announced the premiere of a new videogame title, Castelvania: Lords of Shadow, which is set be released in 2010 for the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony. The game takes place at the end of time during which the Earth is no longer allied with the Heavens and the living are being preyed upon as the souls of the dead wander without finding peace. The main character is Gabriel, a member of the Brotherhood of Light, designated defenders of all the innocents. He has lost his wife to the forces of evil and his soul has been shattered. Gabriel needs to travel through the now destroyed world and use his Combat Cross to take out the rulers of the three factions that are making up the Lords of the Shadow. Vocal talent on this production includes Patrick Stewart as Zobek, Robert Carlyle as Gabriel, and also Natasha McElhone. More Details.
